Rare Flower – Life, Love and Peace Poems
ISBN 978-1-937570-10-1
Nov. 2012, 326 pages, hardcover
This new book by poet Ada Aharoni is a collection of deeply significant, moving and powerful poems. In brilliant poem after poem, Ada unfolds before our eyes new depths of human relations, the complexities and intricacies of love, and the joys and pains of life.
Influenced by the British Peace Poet, Wilfred Owen, Ada powerfully denounces the satanic concept and practice of war. As a woman and a mother, she condemns the killing of
soldiers by involving them in war situations, and she clearly demonstrates that in our nuclear age, the continuation of the practice of war can dangerously lead to the end of humanity.
Despite her urgent warning, her poems are full of hope, and they shed a bright light on the possibilities of peace between all cultures and religions.
Her wonderful and unique poems are a rare and great contribution to the creation of a better, more humane and safer “Global Village.”
Ada Aharoni receives the
“President Shimon Peres
Award” (Sept. 4., 2012)

In “Rare Flower”, Ada Aharoni
holds a torch of light to the memory
of her departed daughter
Talia. She eloquently creates a
spiritual world of values that
connect between life and death.
Art overcomes death – immortal
Talia mysteriously lives again
through these sublime and poignant
poems and in the beautiful
pictures of this wonderful book.

This book will profoundly
change the life of every reader. It
movingly connects the personal
with the political. It teaches us
that we, the entire human family,
have only borrowed our planet
from our children. If we wish to
create a safer, better, and more
loving planet, we need to follow
Ada Aharoni in her path to global
stewardship. Ada was born in
Egypt of French nationality, she
now lives in Israel, and she considers
herself a global citizen.

Palm Curve
Cuddled in the heart of your hand,
soft hand, warm hand,
I do not feel the meaningless drops
of life drizzling,
do not hear its jackal-thunder
nor see its lynx-lightning
in the dark.
And if the world should burst tonight
in a giant mushroom flame,
I would not notice –
snuggled in the nook
of your gentle palm
where I belong,
it seems I may exist
forever.
We are all alike –
gently dozing in the nook
and the noose
of borrowed
nuclear time.
Peace Is A Woman and A Mother
How do you know
peace is a woman?
I know, for I met her yesterday
on my winding way
to the world’s fare.
She had such a sorrowful face
just like a golden flower faded
before her prime.
I asked her why
she was so sad?
She told me her baby
was killed in Auschwitz,
her daughter in Hiroshima
and her sons in Vietnam, India, Pakistan,
Ireland, Israel, Palestine, Lebanon,
Bosnia, Rwanda and Chechnya.
All the rest of her children, she said,
are on the nuclear
black-list of the dead,
all the rest, unless –
the whole world understands
that Peace is a Woman.
A thousand candles then lit
in her starry eyes, and I saw –
Peace is indeed a pregnant woman,
Peace is a mother.
